Recruiting new agents part of your business plan?  If not, why not?  New agents, while they require more training and management than experienced agents also don’t bring BAD habits or stuck in the past marketing ideas into the office either.  Most successful brokers have a healthy mix of recruiting goals understanding that new agents bring in a fresh outlook, perspective and eagerness and experienced agents bring in established sphere of influences, business acumen and referrals. 

How do you put together a successful recruiting campaign for new agents?

First – cast your net.   Many brokers place ads for new agents online and in the local papers as well as host career nights in which people can get a feel for whether they would be a good candidate for real estate.  Another source is to look to people in other industries that might consider a career move into real estate.  Teachers, middle managers, members of your local PTAs and PTSA's, sales professionals from other arenas such as retail, insurance, auto, etc.  Create a database for your mailing campaigns.

  1. Host career information workshops where you can showcase a career in real estate and help prospects learn whether it might be a good fit for them.
  2. Place recruiting postcards or brochures in local businesses such as doctor’s offices, boutiques, restaurants, etc. 
  3. As your agent’s for their referrals.  Most agents know SOMEONE who has considered a career in the business and can help you get a foot in the door.
